COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -

A 21-year-old Jacksonville man was arrested after leading police on a chase on Interstate 10 from Jacksonville to Columbia County that resulted in a crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Breon Walker stole a Ford pickup truck from a Jacksonville business, and the Baker County Sheriff's Office pursued him into Columbia County just before 9 a.m.

Walker was driving at about 85 mph when he lost control near the 310 mile marker, troopers said. The truck went off the roadway and into the tree line on the north side of the road, hitting a tree.

Walker then ran into the Osceola National Forest to try to escape, but he was quickly found with the aid of a K9 and arrested by the Baker County deputies, troopers said.

Neither Walker nor the passenger in the truck, 22-year-old Joel Higgs, of Virginia, were hurt in the crash.

Walker is charged with careless driving, driving while license suspended and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage.
