Escaped teenage inmate arrested in Citrus County

VIDEO: A 16 year-old juvenile escaped while on a field trip with other inmates. Twelve hours later the escapee was captured.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -

The 16-year-old inmate who escaped from Department of Juvenile Justice custody while on a field trip in St. Johns County on Friday afternoon was recaptured just before midnight.

Syllas McMillan was arrested by Citrus County officers, according to St. Johns County Sheriff's Office Cpl. Catherine Payne.

McMillan went missing on a field trip to a Haven Horse Ranch on County Road 208 in St. Johns County. Authorities say he allegedly kicked out a bathroom window about 12:30 p.m.

Deputies searched the World Golf Village area, down to Interstate 95 and State Road 16 causing major traffic delays in the area. 

McMillian is in custody for non-violent burglary and theft charges.   He was recaptured in Citrus County.
