JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

The Florida Highway Patrol says a 50-year-old Fernandina Beach man was riding his motorcycle east on Beach Boulevard on Saturday morning when he struck a pickup truck that made a left turn in front of the motorcycle.

Troopers say Rafe Richard Williams struck a Toyota Tocoma that was attempting to turn onto Cortez Road and crossed into the path of William's Yamaha FZ310.   Williams was taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, but died.

The driver of the pickup, Howard Tolbert, 58, received a minor injury but did not require hospitalization, according to the FHP report.

Debris from the crash struck a Ford Explorer that was also traveling west on Beach Boulevard, but neither person in that vehicle was injured.

There is a traffic signal at the intersection. The FHP report did not indicated who had the right of way and if any charges were result from the accident.
