Fire breaks out at house near school

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -

A fire broke out at a house near an elementary school in St. Augustine on Thursday afternoon.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue was called to the fire at the home near Webster Elementary in the 900 block of West King Street at Orange Street about 2:30 p.m.

No one was hurt and the fire was extinguished. Firefighters said the home was believed to be unoccupied. They said it was a total loss.

Students and faculty remained in the school.

West King and Orange streets were closed during the initial cleanup phase.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
