WEST PALM BEACH, Fla -

Two South Florida mothers will serve prison time for helping stage car accidents to commit insurance fraud.

Federal prosecutors said Ana Ovando, 42, of West Palm Beach was sentenced to more than six years in prison for mail fraud. She reportedly used her five children in staging car accidents.

Earlier this month, Janice Velez, 39, of West Palm Beach was sentenced to two years in prison for helping in the same scheme.

Authorities said the two mothers submitted false insurance claims for chiropractic and massage therapy that they didn't need.

The scheme is part of a fake-accident investigation that 26 people have already been charged for.
