A beloved giraffe has died at the Silver Springs park, leaving the attraction without any of the animals for the first time in 30 years.

Officials say Khama was found dead in his enclosure Wednesday morning. He had lived at the park since his birth in June 1987.

Wildlife Manager Joanne Zeliff told the Ocala Star-Banner that Khama had not been sick or showing any sign of distress recently. It wasn't immediately clear if new giraffes would be brought in for the attraction.

The 18-foot-tall Khama and his mate, Kimba, who died at Silver Springs 13 months ago, had eight offspring together. The young were sent off to other zoos.
