The students at Ponte Vedra-Palm Valley Elementary school returned to their classrooms at midday Friday after spending part of the morning at neighboring Rollings Elementary as crews fixed a gas main leak along State Road A1A.

St. Johns County officials said the move was precautionary and they children were kept off campus until the gas leak was fixed, which took about one hour.

The Sheriff's Office has blocked the southbound lanes of A1A at Mosquito Road, diverting traffic onto Roscoe Boulevard, until the leak was plugged.
