A 29-year-old Jacksonville man was convicted Wednesday afternoon on charges of attempted murder, armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

In July 2009, Dontay Lester met John Albritton at Club Cash on University Boulevard. Shortly after meeting, the two men decided to leave the club and buy cigars.

As Lester and Albritton were driving back to Club Cash, Lester pulled out a gun, robbed Albritton, and shot him three times in the chest and once in the arm.

Days after the shooting, Albritton's father was at Club Cash and spotted Lester, who was wearing the jewelry he stole from the victim. Jacksonville police made contact with Lester at the club and arrested him.

Lester faces mandatory life in prison. He will be sentenced the week of March 18.

Albritton has recovered from his injuries.
