PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -

A 48-year-old Hollister man died after his pickup truck rear-ended a tractor-trailer Thursday afternoon in Putnam County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

State troopers said Christopher Davis was driving eastbound on State Road 20 at Lake Galilee Drive about 3:30 p.m. when he failed to see the big rig stopped in the roadway for a construction zone lane closure.

Davis' pickup struck the tractor-trailer, driven by 45-year-old Charles Wales, of Auburndale, and the pickup was partially underneath the trailer, troopers said.

Davis was flown to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, where he died.

Wales was not hurt, and no passengers were involved in the crash.

Troopers said charges are pending.
