DAWSONVILLE, Ga. -

Authorities say a Newnan man has died after being critically injured in an explosion at Amicalola Propane in Dawson County earlier this month.

The Times of Gainesville reports (http://bit.ly/SJaAL7) that 45-year-old Jimmy Lassetter died Thursday at Grady Memorial Hospital's burn unit.

Authorities say the explosion happened Dec. 5 while workers were unloading a truck carrying a shipment of residential propane tanks. The tanks collided with each other, shearing the valve from one tank and spraying a cloud of propane, which ignited.

Deputy Fire Chief Tim Satterfield, who serves as the county fire marshal, said Monday the explosion has been classified as an accident.

Another worker, Casey Rickett of Dawsonville, was hospitalized for burns but and has been released from Grady.

The accident happened about 50 miles northeast of Atlanta.
