JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Homicide detectives are investigating the body of a man found on the beach of Little Talbot Island on Wednesday afternoon.

Jacksonville Fire-Rescue initially responded to the report of a body found, then the Sheriff's Office sent a detective to the 12000 block of State Road A1A.

Body on Little Talbot Island Police and officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were on the scene. The FWC said someone alerted park rangers to the body on the beach, and FWC officers saw the body in the water, then called police.

The body was removed from the scene.

FWC officers said the scenario of how the man died is uncertain and the investigation is being handled by JSO.   The victim has been identified, but his family is out of state and has not been notified, so his name was not released.
