PALATKA, Fla. -

A man shot during a fight with another man last Friday has been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Putnam County deputies said Tromell Camps arrived at a home in the 400 block of Bay Street in Palatka armed with two handguns.

They said when Domanic Gaines answered the door, a physical altercation ensued and Camps shot at Gaines, who was inside his home.

After a brief tussle, Camps was shot multiple times by Gaines, deputies said.

Camps fled the scene on foot and was later taken to the Putnam Community Medical Center by a relative. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, he was transported to Shands Medical Center at the University of Florida.

Deputies said the reason for the fight and the relationship between the two men is still being determined.
