The Columbia County Sheriff's Office says a missing elderly woman from Lake City was located safe in Alabama.

Noretia Dempsey, 87, was last seen leaving her house on County Road 18 in Lake City at 10 a.m. Thursday.  There was a record of her buying gas at a station off Main Street in Jacksonville, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said a motorist a Silver Alert notification on a billboard about her red 2003 Buick Century and notified authorities.  She was found on the side of Interstate 10 near exit 38 in Alabama.  The Daphne Police said her car was out of gas.

Authorities say Dempsy's family is en route to Alabama to bring her home.
