PALM COAST, Fla. -

The wife of a Flagler County School Board member has been sentenced to 25 months in jail for leaving the scene of a deadly November 2011 crash.

A judge sentenced Jamesine Fischer on Wednesday. She had pleading guilty to leaving the scene earlier this year.

The 56-year-old Palm Coast woman is married to School Board member John Fischer, which raised questions over how the sheriff's office handled the case.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports that Jamesine Fischer struck 76-year-old Francoise Pecqueur as she was walking her dog in Palm Coast. The woman died two days later.

Fischer did not call for help until nearly 12 hours after the crash. The sheriff's office then handled the call as a medical problem and did not send a deputy for about six hours.
