Pedestrian killed on I-95 in St. Johns County

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -

A pedestrian was killed Wednesday night after being hit by a pickup truck on Interstate 95 just north of State Road 16 in St. Johns County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, for unknown reasons, 35-year-old Denise Tatum was standing in or crossing the roadway just before 7 p.m. when a southbound pickup truck pulling an RV trailer hit the woman. 

Tatum was thrown into the west shoulder of the highway. Troopers said she died at the scene.

Neither the driver nor the passenger of the pickup truck were injured.

According to the FHP report, charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
