As flooding flushes stray animals out of their hiding spots there has been an influx of animals being picked up by animal control.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Foster homes are needed for pets who washed into Jacksonville area animal shelters during Tropical Storm Debby.

First Coast No More Homeless Pets, Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services, and the Jacksonville Humane Society are partnering for an adoption event next week.

The groups are asking foster families to take in dogs and cats for less than two weeks until the animals can be sent to the adoption event to find their future homes.

The Mega Pet Adoption Event will be held Friday, July 13, through Sunday, July 15, at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Adoption fees are only $25 and all pets are microchipped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and the mandatory city license fee is included.

Active duty and retired military personnel will pay no adoption fees.
