JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Police say a man seen speeding on his motorcycle earlier on Friday died in the afternoon after running a red stop sign on West 45th Street and being hit by an SUV.

The 32-year-old motorcyclist, whose name was not released at the scene, was taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

Police found a helmet at the scene, but they aren't sure if he was wearing it at the time.
