Ronnie Javan Jones

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrested a man they believe kidnapped a baby boy early Saturday in Northwest Jacksonville.

Chief Tom Hackney with JSO said Ronnie Jones kicked in the door of a woman's home on Meharry Avenue around 2 a.m. and threatened to kill her baby.

Hackney said Jones then drove the boy to a neighbor's house. Just before 5 a.m., police said the neighbor had surrendered the baby to them unharmed.

Hackney said they arrested 25-year-old Jones.  Jail records show Jones has been arrested several times in recent years in Duval County on charges including child abuse, domestic battery and resisting arrest.
