RAIFORD, Fla. -

Florida Department of Corrections officials are investigating an attempted escape from the Union Correctional Institution in Raiford on Wednesdsay night.

Two inmates somehow managed to get out of their dormitory through the roof, officials said.

They were caught trying to get under the fence that surrounds the prison, so they never got off the grounds, officials said.

Both prisoners have been transferred to the Florida State Prison.

The DOC has not identified the inmates.
