ORANGE PARK, Fla. -

The medical examiner says 46-year-old Dede Etey died Monday of a blunt-force trauma to her head. Her son, 23-year-old Teyi Lawson, is in the Clay County jail charged with her murder.

Etey's body was found in the yard of her home in the 200 block of Edson Drive about noon. When deputies arrived, they found Etey dead in her front yard.

Lawson was still at the home and was taken into custody.

Clay County deputies are not saying why Lawson was fighting with his mother, or what led to the argument. Officials are only saying the physical altercation ended with murder.

Deputies said they had been called to the home before for domestic issues, but Wilson said the family seemed tight-knit and loving.

Deputies said they interviewed the rest of the family. Lawson's father and sister live in the home too, but they were not home when it happened.

Lawson appeared before a Clay County judge Tuesday morning and was ordered held without bail. His next court appearance was set for Nov. 7.
