Small explosives found in home disposed of

PALATKA, Fla. -

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office detonated and disposed of several small explosive devices found in a home Friday morning.

Deputies were called to the 200 block of Deans Creek Road about 10 a.m.

The said the resident recently died, and while relatives were cleaning out a shed, they found about 20 blasting caps.

For safety precautions, deputies contacted the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office's Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit to properly detonate the devices.

At about 2 p.m., all of the blasting caps were detonated and disposed of.
