Soldier from South Miami killed in Afghanistan

MIAMI -

A soldier from South Miami has been killed in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense says Capt. Andrew M. Pedersen-Keel died March 11 of injuries sustained when he was attacked by small arms fire.

The 28-year-old was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), at Fort Bragg, N.C.

Also killed was 26-year-old Staff Sgt. Rex L. Schad of Edmond, Okla. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Ga.
