Clay County's school superintendent is asking a judge to review a vote by the School Board to change a job description.

On March 19, the board voted 3-2 to rewrite the description for the director of career and technical education.

Superintendent Charlie Van Zant says that oversteps the board's authority and sets a dangerous precedent for employees.

A lawyer who advises the School Board on labor and employment law says the board does not have the power to do this and can only vote on a recommendation from the superintendent.

The superintendent had not made any recommendations before the board took this vote.
