Truck on fire blocks roads on Southside

Firefighters used foam to put out the fuel-fed fire.


A pickup truck caught fire Friday morning at the Kangaroo gas station on St. Augustine Road at Powers Avenue, sending up a column of black smoke visible for miles.

There was no immediate information about any injuries or what caused the fire that was reported just before 9:30 a.m. 

Police initially closed St. Augustine Road from from University Blvd to Rolac Road, Powers Avenue from St. Augustine Road to Victor Street and Rolac Road between Victor Street and St. Augustine Road.  Most of the roads reopened within the hour.
