Pastor says the flood has done tens of thousands of dollars in damage.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

There will be no services this Sunday at the 103rd Street Baptist Church after rains from Tropical Storm Debby inundated the church.

"It rains on the just and the unjust, we needed rain but not in this spot," said Pastor James Turner. "But he knows best. It's actually given us an opportunity to do stuff we needed to do, clean out some stuff and do stuff anyway."

Flood waters saturated the church at 103rd Street and Schindler Drive in Jacksonville.

"I came down early before it flooded and put away all our electrical stuff," said Turner. "The doors are pretty well gone because of the damage and the sheet rock about 6 to 7 inches up."

Earl Graves, who does maintenance for the church, said they've been working non-stop to get the water out.

"We're going to meet up here Saturday, they're going to' help out with an action plan and rip out what we have to rip out and go from there," said Graves.

On Sunday the church plans to have services in a separate room inside the church that is not damaged.

"We have seen stuff that belongs on the other side of the church on this side of church that for the most part, the carpet has been our nemesis, when it gets this wet it's very very heavy," said Graves.
