An 28-year-old man was found dead in a lot at 27th Street and Evergreen early Thursday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

A witness who drove by noticed the body of Andronicus Williams about 3:50 a.m. in the lot located in the Brentwood area.

After canvassing the area, officers learned that neighbors heard multiple gunshots late Wednesday night, according to Sgt. T.K. Waters with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

"When they got there they found a black man lying in an empty lot at that intersection in that area," Sgt. Waters said. "He was unresponsive. Patrol called rescue at that point and that person was pronounced deceased at the scene."

As of Thursday afternoon when police released the victim's name, they had no suspect information.
