Man with knife robs Westside convenience store

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are hoping someone will help them identify a man who held up the Kangaroo Express store on Normandy Boulevard early Thursday morning.

A witness told the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office the robber came to the counter at 1:36 a.m. and asked for a pack of cigarettes. When the clerk retrieved the item and turned back to the counter, the man had pulled a knife and said, "I'm going to need that money."

Police said the clerk handed over money and the suspect exited the store. He was last seen on foot eastbound on Normandy Boulevard.

Police described the robber as a white man, 35 to 50 years old and between 5 feet 8 and 10 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a lime-green beanie, a gray T-shirt with red graphics and light blue jeans entered the store.
