TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -

Tallahassee police say an armed robbery suspect has died after being shot by officers during a foot chase.

Tommy Jackson and Arthur James allegedly were fleeing the scene after police were called to a reported armed robbery Monday.

Police attempted to stop the suspects' vehicle, which crashed into a tree. James and Jackson fled on foot.

Jackson exchanged fire with multiple officers before being struck. He was taken to a hospital and died Monday evening.

James also was shot and taken to the hospital. He was in custody Tuesday.

Police say the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
