Toddler found outside of Westside church

Child brought to safety by churchgoers

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are questioning the parents of a 13-month-old boy found naked in a retention pond Wednesday night after services at Acts 2 Church on 103rd Street.

One witness told Channel 4 that the toddler was first sitting in the pond and then started wandering out to 103rd Street.

Churchgoers grabbed the child and brought him to safety before he got to the road.

Witnesses said the child's guardian was nowhere to be found, so church members brought the boy inside the church and called police.

Late Wednesday night, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the child's parents were located and were being questioned.

The Department of Children and Families confirmed with Channel 4 that they are now involved in the investigation. DCF said they will work closely with law enforcement officials on this case.
