LAKELAND, Fla. -

Authorities rescued a bald eagle that was dangling from a tree outside a home.  The eagle was found with two feet of fishing line tangled around a wing.

Authorities say the homeowners called the fire department after their 12-year-old son spotted the eagle through his window when waking up.

According to The Ledger, Lakeland Fire Lt. Joey Delegge says the eagle was over a body of water.  Lt. Delegge says the eagle was swinging from a pine tree.

Lt. Delegge rescued the eagle by using tools belonging to the homeowners.  Delegge cut the lines of the fishing line to free the bird.  The eagle dropped into the water and firefighters got the bird using a kayak.

The eagle appeared to be okay.

According to state officials, they could release the eagle back into the wild next week.
