The number one crime reported in this area where either an arrest was made or a suspect was named, is car break-ins with 152 so far this year. That's followed by grand theft.  Also topping the list criminal mischief and home burglaries.

As far as violent crimes in this area, which includes Nocatee and Ponte Vedra Beach, deputies report 4 assaults and 1 armed robbery.

Southwest St. Johns County (includes ZIP codes 32033 & 32145):

In the Southwestern part of St. Johns County, there have been 549 total crimes reported so far this year where arrests were made or suspects were named.  The most common are home burglaries, petty theft and grand theft.

This area, which includes Elkton, has a higher rate of violent crimes than the other areas in St. Johns County with 20 assaults, 8 street robberies, 2 armed robberies and 2 murders.

Southeast St. Johns County (includes ZIP code 32086):

In the southeastern part of St. Johns County, which includes St. Augustine Shores and Butler Beach, there have been 618 cases of crime reported so far this year where arrests were made or suspects were named. The most common is petty theft, followed by grand theft and car break-ins. 

There were also a number of violent crimes investigated, including 3 assaults with serious injuries, 1 armed robbery and 1 murder.

St. Augustine in St. Johns County (includes ZIP code 32084):

In St Augustine last year, 969 crimes were reported.  Included in those were 739 thefts, 116 burglaries, 69 assaults, 7 rapes and  1 murder.

St. Augustine Beach in St. Johns County (includes ZIP code 32080)

In St Augustine Beach last year, police worked 203 total crimes.  Included in those numbers were 136 thefts, 47 burglaries and 3 robberies.

Northwest St. Johns County (includes ZIP codes 32259 & 32092):

In the northwestern part of St. Johns County, which includes Julington Creek and Fruit Cove, there have been 465 crimes reported so far this year where arrests were made or suspects were named..

The most common crime was criminal mischief, followed by car break-ins, grand theft, petty theft and home burglaries.

Of the violent crimes in this area, assaults rank among the top, followed by armed robbery.

DUVAL COUNTY (crime number current as of Nov. 11, 2013):

Downtown/Springfield areas of Duval County: (includes ZIP codes 32202 & 32206):

This is the area known by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office as Zone 1.  According to police records, there have been 4,936 crimes reported there since the beginning of the year. The most common crimes have been theft, vandalism and home burglaries.

As far as violent crimes for this zone, police received 300 reports of various assaults, which could involve shootings and stabbings -anything where someone is badly hurt.

So far in 2013,  Police have investigated 171 robberies on the street, 13 carjackings, and 12 murders in this area.

Arlington in Duval County: (includes ZIP code 32211):

In the Arlington area, police report 9,417 crimes so far this year.  The most common crime is theft, followed by assault, vandalism, home burglaries and car burglaries.

Of the violent crimes reported in this area,  police responded to 366 reports of assaults leaving the victims seriously hurt. 

Also this year in Arlington,  186 people said they were robbed on the street, 28 businesses held up, 26 home invasion robberies, 19 carjackings and 8 murders.

Southside of Duval County (includes ZIP code 32207):

In this area, there were 9,772 crimes reported so far this year.  The most common crime is theft, followed by assault, vandalism, and home and car burglaries.

Police also report 142 street robberies in the Southside, .31 business robberies, 18 carjackings and 13 murders.

Westside of Duval County (includes ZIP code 32210):

This is area of town is South of I-10.   The most common of the 12,764 crimes reported to police in this area is theft,  assault, followed by vandalism, home burglaries and car break-ins.

Of the violent crimes, there were 522 reported assaults where people were seriously hurt, 246 street robberies, 40 reported business stickups, 23 carjackings and 15 murders.

Northside of Duval County (includes ZIP codes 32218 & 32226):

On the Northside, people have reported 4,176 crimes so far this year.  The number one crime is theft, followed by assault, then home burglaries, vandalism, and then car break-ins.

As far as violent crimes, assault is the most common with 124 cases reported so far in 2013.

Other violent crimes include 52 street robberies, 19 business robberies, 7 murders and 5 kidnappings.  This includes the high profile case of 8-year-old Cherish Perrywinkle, who was abducted and found dead the next day.

Northwest Jacksonville & portions of the Westside (includes zip codes 32209 & 32219):

So far this year in this area, police report 9,576 crimes.  The most common is theft followed by assault, vandalism, home burglaries and car break-ins.

This area leads the city in violent crimes with 638 reports of assault, where someone was seriously hurt, 230 street robberies, 36 carjackings, and an alarming 25 murders. To put that murder number in perspective, there have been more murders here than anywhere else in Jacksonville in 2013.

Jacksonville Beach (includes ZIP code 32250):  141 assaults reported, 43 robberies, 11 rapes and 1 murder.

Atlantic Beach (includes ZIP code 32233): 62 burglary reports, 41 assaults, 12 robberies and 2 rapes.

Neptune Beach (includes ZIP code 32266): 31 burglaries reported, 9 assaults and 2 robberies.
