JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A Duval County jury on Thursday convicted Terrell Jamar Reed, 24, in the 2012 shooting death of 28-year-old Jeffrey May.

Prosecutors say Reed and his brother, Tevin Jamel Reed, met with May to buy drugs. During the deal, the brothers pulled out guns and robbed the victim. As May struggled to fight back, he was shot in the back of the neck.

When police arrived at the crime scene, they found blood and other evidence, but not May’s body. Detectives later found the victim in the Trout River.

Terrell Reed was found guilty of first-degree murder, attempted armed robbery and tampering with evidence.

Tevin Reed was convicted last year on charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery and attempted armed robbery. He has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Terrell Reed faces the same sentence. He will be sentenced the week of April 21.
