JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to a brush fire at 5:17 p.m. Thursday in the 3100 block of Kernan Lake Circle off Kernan Lake Drive.

The fire burned about three acres. No injuries were reported, and no homes were in danger at any time, firefighters said.

Firefighters did not know a cause for the fire, but they said flames traveled across drainage lines in the wooded area, which made it difficult for fire crews to get in to put the fire out.

As of 9 p.m., the fire was contained and crews were leaving the area.
