TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -

A search committee is meeting Wednesday to decide what Florida State University should do next in the search for a new president.

The committee is expected to vote if a normal search should resume.

The problem arose when Supreme Court Chief Justice applied for the job.  At the time the university was planning on interviewing Republican politician John Thrasher to see about offering him the position.  After Chief Justice Ricky Polston applied, the interview with Thrasher was postponed.

The FSU faculty union wants school officials to start from the beginning.  The search committee has been asked to consider a new application deadline for candidates.
