JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 6-year-old child is recovering after being injured in an apparent drive-by shooting while playing on the front porch of her Moncrief Road home, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Officers working off-duty at UF Health Jacksonville were told the child was brought to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm shortly after 11 p.m.

The shooting occurred on Moncrief Road near I-95 and MLK Pkwy.

Initial information indicated the child was on her porch when the unknown suspect or suspects drove by in what was described as a gold Toyota Camry, according to JSO.  Multiple rounds were fired in the direction of the home, striking the child.

Police said the child's injuries are minor.  Police are looking for the shooter(s).

Anyone with information is urged to call JSO at 904-630-0500 or Crimestoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
