ORLANDO, Fla. -

The scoreboard toppled at the Citrus Bowl on Wednesday as demolition began for the multimillion-dollar renovation project.

The lower bowl of the downtown Orlando event center was demolished Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m.

When the renovation project is complete, city and county leaders say the Citrus Bowl will attract and host "high-profile events" such as NFL pre-season games, concerts and NCAA college football games.

The renovation will include new lower bowl seating with six more inches of leg room, a 10,000-square foot party deck, new LED video displays and a 360-degree main concourse.
