Coast Guard Station Brunswick is holding a ceremony to recognize the arrival of the station's newest response boat Tuesday morning.

Station Brunswick crew members will be the latest recipients of the new 45-foot Response Boat-Medium, which was designed to replace the 1970's era 41-foot Utility Boat currently assigned to the station.

The RB-M is equipped with state-of-the-art marine technology, including all-aluminum construction, better crew comfort, integrated electronics for better control and twin jet propulsion.

The RB-M is faster than the Utility Boat, is capable of operating in severe conditions, such as higher seas, and has a self-righting ability.

The increased capability will enable the Coast Guard to respond to missions more effectively within the coastal South Carolina and Georgia region.

The delivery is the fourth of five boats delivered to a sub-unit of Coast Guard Sector Charleston the past year.
