Commercial building fire closes roads

JFRD: No one inside during fire; Building used as woodworking shop

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department put out a fire Friday night inside a woodworking shop on East 11th Street.

JFRD told Channel 4 that no one was inside the building at the time of the fire and that no one was injured while fighting the flames.

Fire crews did not have to enter the building in order to get the fire out.

After the fire was out, there was heavy smoke in the area of Evergreen Avenue between Eighth and 12th streets.

The roads in the are were closed for some time while fire crews worked in the area.

There was no word Friday night on the cause of the fire, but the State Fire Marshal was inveestigating.
