Moncrief reopened after morning crash

Driver, passenger transported to local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A crash closed Moncrief Road between Edgewood Avenue and Avenue B for a couple hours early Monday morning.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, a driver lost control of a car, left the roadway and hit a concrete wall on Moncrief Road northbound, just north of Edgewood.

The vehicle overturned, blocking both northbound and southbound lanes of Moncrief Road.

When police arrived on the scene, the driver fled, according to JSO. Police have not released the identity of the driver but said the driver was not being sought by police.

A passenger was found still on the scene of the crash and police later found the driver.

The driver and the passenger were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Moncrief Road was closed in both directions between Edgewood Avenue and Avenue B for several hours and reopened around 5:15 a.m.
