There's a ray of hope for getting all of the wood out of the dilapidated, wooden Southbank Riverwalk.

If you've been following this saga like Channel 4 has for years, you may be aware that one section behind the Crowne Plaza Jacksonville-Riverfront hotel was not going to be replaced with a new concrete walkway.

The reason was the concerns of the hotel's managers about the construction costing the hotel business.

Now the city and the Crowne Plaza's corporate management have met, and those managers say they are interested in having that section of the Riverwalk replaced.

The two sides are now trying to agree on a time frame that will not hurt the hotel's business.

What's not known is whether this agreement will raise the total cost of the project.
