CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -

A 20-year-old Palatka man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 17, south of Green Cove Springs, on Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

State troopers said Jake Davis was driving south in the outside travel lane of U.S. 17 at Decoy Road about 6:30 a.m. when his pickup truck left the paved portion of the road, struck a ditch and overturned.

Troopers said Davis was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Investigators said they don't know why his truck left the roadway.
