JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 52-year-old Jacksonville man was hit by a pickup truck and killed Wednesday morning while crossing Timuquana Road on the Westside, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

State troopers said Lavoy Williams was walking north in the eastbound lanes of Timuquana, just west of Catoma Street, just after 5 a.m.

Williams was hit by the left side of a pickup heading eastbound and died at the scene.

Troopers said the driver of the truck, 46-year-old Keith Adkins, didn't see Williams crossing the road. Adkins told troopers the eastbound traffic light was green and traffic at Catoma Street was stopped for a red traffic signal.

Troopers said alcohol was not a factor. They said charges are pending an investigation.
