ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -

A 25-year-old man on a motorcycle was killed Saturday morning when an 85-year-old woman in an SUV pulled out on U.S. 1 near Faver Dykes Road in southern St. Johns County.

Florida Highway Patrol says a GMC Envoy driven by Bonnie Peterson was stopped in a driveway along U.S. 1 near just north of the Flagler County line about 7:30 a.m.  She began to pull across U.S. 1 as  Stephen Newberry was on a Kawasaki northbound on the highway.

The motorcycle slid and hit the back lower left side of the SUV.  Newberry, who lived in Palm Coast, was pronounced dead at the scene.   Troopers said he was wearing a helmet.

Peterson, from Tennessee, was not injured.

According to the FHP report, charges are pending.
