St. Augustine Sheriff's Office deputies believe this vehicle struck and killed a man Tuesday night on A1A.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -

St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives investigating the death of a 53-year-old man struck by a pickup truck late Tuesday night are asking the public's help finding out who was in the vehicle at the time and other events of that night.

Robert Dale Louk was struck near the intersection of State Road A1A and Florida Avenue just before midnight.  He did early Wednesday morning at Flagler Hospital.

A witness told deputies that she observed a white Toyota pickup truck strike Louk and continue south on A1A. Deputies along with St. Augustine Beach police officers began searching for a vehicle that matched the description and located it within a few miles of the initial scene.

As the investigation continued, they located at man who deputies said would not fully cooperate with detectives during their initial contact. Search warrants were obtained for the vehicle and for a blood sample from the suspect.

Detectives are confident the man they questioned was the driver. Forensic evidence and physical evidence in this case is being thoroughly examined prior to the arrest of the identified suspect.

Investigators are now seeking any information surrounding the events of the evening prior to the incident and the identity of other people who may have been in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Anyone with additional information regarding this case is asked to contact Detective Jose Jimenez at 904-209-1458 or Crimestoppers 888-277-8477.
