Attempted abduction
PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -

An attempted abduction reported to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office last month has been determined to be false, investigators said.

Detectives drew that conclusion after hours of interviews and review of video recordings at Palatka High School.

Additionally, detectives said they recreated the incident timeline and interviewed several witnesses before determining that witnesses could not corroborate the alleged victim's story.

Detectives said they have not determined if criminal charges will be file against the false reporter.

After hearing of the investigative findings, Sheriff Jeff Hardy said: "Allegations like this are some of the most serious we investigate. I am relieved that we discovered the incident did not occur, but frustrated that we put forth so much effort that could have been focused on another investigation."
