Deputies: Man tried to 'arrest' teen at Palm Coast bus stop

Man told girl as she ran away, "Do not run. You are resisting arrest."

PALM COAST, Fla. – Deputies are investigating after a 16-year-old girl says she was approached by a man near a bus stop in Palm Coast.

The Matanzas High School student reported that as she was walking to her bus stop around 6:45 a.m. Thursday, deputies said she noticed a suspicious looking vehicle.

As she walked by the vehicle, she saw a man in a blue Ford Crown Victoria with the window halfway down.

As the teen approached a neighbor's house, the man put the Ford into gear and began following her, according to deputies.

The man shouted, "Hey," and the girl began walking faster. The man then said, "Do not run. You are resisting arrest," according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

The girl then ran behind a neighbor's house and the Ford drove away.

Deputies said the teen did not report the incident until Friday.

"Parents or students who notice anything out of the ordinary or anything suspicious at or near local bus stops and in your neighborhoods, should contact us right away," said Sheriff James L. Manfre.

The teen told deputies the man, described as white or Hispanic, wore a green color uniform shirt. The tag number on the Ford was covered with paper.

Deputies said extra patrols have been ordered at bus stops beginning Monday morning.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 386-313-4911.
