Deputies search for driver who hit Middleburg man

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -

A hit-and-run crash in Clay County left a Middleburg man in critical condition.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Kevin Michael Helm, 43, was walking north on Hibiscus Avenue sometime Sunday morning when he was hit by the right front of a vehicle.

Helm was thrown to the east side of the road. 

He was taken to St. Vincents Medical Center in Clay County and then airlifted to UF Health Jacksonville.

Troopers are looking for a white vehicle with heavy right front end damage around the headlights.
