BROOKSVILLE, Fla. -

A sheriff's deputy is being credited for his quick actions in rescuing a man from a burning mobile home in Brooksville.

When Deputy James Devorak arrived at the scene of the burning home Tuesday evening he learned that a man was still inside the home.

Hernando County Sheriff's officials say Devorak was the first emergency responder to arrive at the home. As he approached the home, he heard several explosions. Then he heard someone moaning inside.

The lanai area was engulfed in flames and was full of smoke, but the deputy went inside the building. He found the man on the floor and pulled him out of the burning home.

The victim was taken to a hospital in Tampa where he's being treated for burns and smoke inhalation.
