Dogs seized after attacking Flagler County woman

Woman protected young daughter during five-dog attack

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A Flagler County woman is recovering after she was attacked by five dogs Sunday night.

Sheriff's Office deputies say the woman was walking with her 6-year-old daughter near their home on Holly Lane in Daytona North, when five pit bulls approached them.

Deputies said 27-year-old Brandi Bookamer was able to protect her daughter from the dogs and told her to run away. The little girl was unharmed.

When deputies were called to the area, they found Bookamer with numerous puncture wounds and lacerations.

Bookamer (pictured, right) was taken by ambulance to the Flagler County Airport and then airlifted to Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach.

On Monday, Flagler County Lt. Bob Weber said Bookamer was in satisfactory condition.

Deputies said they located the dogs believed to be involved in the incident on Mahogany Boulevard and notified Animal Control officials, which seized all five dogs.
