VIDEO: Some Mandarin residence are without power after a truck hit a power pole alongside San Jose Blvd earlier this afternoon.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A truck crashed into a utility pole on San Jose Boulevard near Julington Creek Road on Tuesday morning, knocking out power and closing down a portion of San Jose Boulevard for most of the day.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, around 11 a.m. Tuesday, 25-year-old Nicholas Wolford was heading southbound on San Jose Boulevard and collided with a utility pole near Julington Creek Road.

Wolford received serious injuries and was transported to UF Health.

When the truck hit the utility pole, an electrical wire detached and struck the front of a Lexus, driven by 43-year-old Lara Gamble. She was not injured in the accident.

JEA said power was completely restored to the area just before 9 p.m. Cable was out for 10,000-15,000 Mandarin residents.

Due to the downed power lines, Jacksonville Electric Authority notified the Florida Department of Transportation that the southbound lanes on San Jose Boulevard (SR13) at Julington Creek Road would be closed until Tuesday evening.

One lane in each direction is now open on San Jose Boulevard. The road was expected to be completely reopened around 11 p.m.
